Obviously not full battles, but it was sick. The two guys breaking next to each other are against each other.
The two last dancers Hong 10 (black shirt) and Lilou (white shirt) battled it out and Lilou came out on top. My favorite was Pelezina (:25) (not sure if spelled correctly) in the yellow futbol jersey
Its weak highlights, but o well, if you go to my page and look at favorites, there is a 25 min video of it.
The foremost one-on-one B-Boying contest in the world, the Red Bull BC One is coming to South Africa. This event will see sixteen of the globe's best dancers compete head-to-head, pitting their distinctive moves and technical genius against each other in a knock out contest which defines the epitome of breaking.
Originally hosted in Biel, Switzerland in 2004 and followed by battles in Germany in 2005, and Brazil in 2006, the Red Bull BC One now moves to African shores as the world's best B-Boys compete in the event on September 22, in Soweto Johannesburg, South Africa.
Known as one of the most culturally rich nations in the world, South Africa prides itself on its diversity. The country, an international tourist hotspot, has an established alternative art and culture scene which grew out of the oppression of Apartheid and its restrictions on the freedom of speech and press.
This year, its 13th year of true independence, also sees the celebration of 25 years of Hip Hop in the country. Seeded into the local collective in the early 1980s, Hip Hop became a support structure for both established and amateur artists as early pioneers of the culture used its positive message to motivate the youth.
Centralised around the breaking element of the sub-culture, Hip Hop developed as an underground form of expression, allowing South African youth an outlet for their creativity. It now takes centre stage in the country as contemporary artists spread their own messages and teach their skills to modern day teenagers, solidifying the relevance of the African Hip Hop movement.
In salute to the 25 years of Hip Hop, South Africa has the honour of hosting this international event. The bustling city of Johannesburg is well suited for an experience of this nature, as B-Boys and Hip Hop heads alike prepare to descend on the city to witness one of the globe's most dynamic breaking spectacles
