  • Watching a video from 2007 in my 2011 technology class. That makes sense

  • Lets look back 12 years later and having a good laugh! :DDDD

  • We've been making plastic from small chain hydrocarbons for a long time now. Polyethylene being one example. I think it is possible that oil has been surpassed as the main organic feedstock for plastic, but I don't have the data to know for sure.

I find the idea of biodegradable plastic to be an intriguing one, but I remain skeptical. Long carbon chains are just difficult for anything living to process, regardless of the feedstock.

  • And that explains why there is no evidence left behind of the highly advanced technological society that existed on this planet long before our current written history. Their tech was all biodegradable plastics.

  • I think the idea of plastic electronics is incredible. It bewilders me how this technology has already been created and considered for world wide use. I think it would be very benifical for the school system... replacing numerous amounts of text books with one light weight and simple device. It will be interesting to see if the idea of 'plastic electronics' actually catches and uses for it.

  • No, because while plastic is mostly derived from oil AT PRESENT, it is actually possible to make it from plant matter as well. In fact these organic plastics have the advantage of being biodegradable.

  • E-ink from plastic logic is a plastic flexible display that can be used on any surface without the need for constant power. It uses monochrome beads which rotate when a charge is applied and is identical to that of paper, hence the word E-ink.

In other words it will replace paper and can be used for advertisement, mobile devices, clothing etc.

    Clever technology.

  • Amen.
