First of all, I'm no expert on muscle ups. This tutorial is not about doing a slow, controlled, pure strength muscle up. Instead, it was designed to help those who are interested in doing muscle ups that use the legs, a slight swing, speed and momentum. Muscle ups done this way still involve a certain degree of skill and strength, and they're sure to impress your friends, family and strangers.

Here are a few of the things I did to achieve my muscle ups. It took me about 2 months to get my first one, and another 2 months before I could comfortably do multiple reps. Be patient and train diligently and before you know it, you'll have them!

A special shout out to the Bar-barians, Bartendaz, Calisthencis Kingz, Highlandaz and X-CALI-BAR for getting me into muscle ups - thanks ya'll!

  • Hey Dawalli-still working hard to get my first MU-recently got a 60lb weight vest dor pullups and bar dips-doing 10x3 reps with 50lbs-really feel it will add to my explosive pullups to finally get over. When u were learning the MU did u use wted pullups/dips? I feel so much more explosive after -just wondering if you used wted pulls, and how much wt u should be able to do before one has enough power to clear bar-Able to get hands off bar but no clapping yet. Seems more plyo power needed for me.

  • @Macraewalker That's great, keep at those weighted movements. They're the key. I used 'em a lot! But I feel negatives are the best way to get that transition part down. Lots and lots of negatives and hopefully they're not too hard on the elbows! Keep it up!

  • I find it crazy how that city is totally DEAD during all this filming!!...haha

  • @Timberlinetown Yeah, during the heat of the summer. Everyone was inside enjoying their air conditioning!
