Massachusetts has created a grant to fund extra police patrols this week to crack down on seat belt usage. Marshfield Police Officer Jason Lucchetti was one of the police officers who was on the crack down. Look for the story at http://tinyurl.com/ledger-seatbelts or in the Weekend edition of The Patriot Ledger, your ORIGINAL source for local news.

  • @TheSuperBlackMan When he says they are expected to make as many stops as possible, he means they try to find as many violators as possible. They are expected to pull all violators over. Also I think they have better things to do than make up "bullshit violations", traffic stops aren't the only thing they do. Think before you speak because you obviously have no clue what you're talking about. You just run your mouth and think you're always right. When in reality, you're not. Study up your facts.

  • @TheSuperBlackMan Actually Police Officers are not required to wear their seat-belts unless they turn their lights and sirens on. This ensures them a quicker response time getting out of their car instead of getting tangled up in their seat-belt.

  • Oh. One more thing! You'll notice the cop didn't say they are expected to stop everyone who they see breaking the law during that overtime period. He said we are expected to "make as many stops as possible". So if the cop can't find anyone breaking the law, he has to start making up bullshit violations in order to show that he's earning his money. It's all about making money for the town! They want people to break the law so they can give more tickets!

  • One day I sat in my car for about an hour, just to satisfy my curiosity, and I watched every car that passed by a certain intersection in my town. About 70% of the people who drove by wear wearing their seatbelts. But guess what? Of the 2 cops that I saw drive by, neither one of them had a seatbelt on. Funny how those are the guys who are supposed to be getting the other 30% of drivers to buckle up! What a bunch of dumb hypocrites!
