@Kaizer147 they used magnesium strips to stop the underbody being damaged when it was heavy with fuel at the start. the sparks are from the strips being rubbed along the track whenever the car accelerates, goes over a bump etc, they changed the strips to wood in 1994.

can someone explain why there were so much sparks? Isn't it really dangerous and effect the speed when having the car touching the ground? or there is another reason for that?
