  • There is plenty of whooping and hollering at the open dances. Mysteries require a lot of concentration and a minimum of outside distraction, even the audience is to remain quiet until the dance is over.

Appearance and styling is not as important in this round of competition. However most of the squares use good styling out of habit, and for the 'show'. By doing things the same way each time their concentration is increased.

  • -> I don't think reverse order is legal. With so many calls requiring their own reverse definitions, I think that's a caller cheat.

  • I'm not enough of a dancer to guess whether it's a cheat or not, however, they practice reverse order moves regularly, know the definitions, and can dance them.

Nobody said the choreo was easy ;)

  • -> They're very stiff. They don't look like they are having fun. What happened to whop and holler? I would think you could hear that clear voice.

-> I guess the music isn't all that important in a contest.

-> Looks like they're graded on appearances and styling (skirt flouirsh, etc)

-> The earlier choreo was more interesting.

-> Either recycle or wheel and deal is CHEATING. ;-)

  • Music has to have a good danceable beat, and was quite impressed that 'standard' square dance music was NOT used here.

  • I'm so impressed! Who's the mystery caller? He has a very nice voice.

  • Bryan Clark is the caller (hope I spelled that right)

  • I am the mystery Caller... These kids did better than I ever hoped. The mistakes they made were not serious and should not have been made. But alas.. no one is perfect. When we recorded them the judges needed mulitple walk through's before we could get a final recording. This is the Olympics of square dancing and these kids are the best right now. Good Job Kids.

    Cheers

  • I know this Caller very well and it is always his goal to keep these young dancers thinking as someone else on here said at this stage of competition it is more about the moves knowing weather or not you are a dancing as a boy or a girl..and to not break down.. Music is used only as background and Styling isn't important this part of the day is all concentration so as the dancers are having fun they are deep in concentration..

  • like a well oiled machine

  • Wheel the top must be a quarterly?

  • yes ....*VERY* interesting choreography!! ...
