  • Can anti depresents cause or have an effect on your weight? im on celexa im 16 and i way 100 pounds or mabye a lil less.. docs say im fine.. but just still a bit curious.. when i eat i get full fast.thanks

  • @juice12222 Unfortunately yes, celexa can cause weight gain. I have really struggled to try and lose weight, and I gained a lot over the past few years partially because of the meds that I take. But just watch what you eat, and exercise. Dont do anything bad for yourself okay??

  • @EverLastingOCD well i guess its a good thing its helping me gain a little weight.. im reallly skinny

  • @juice12222 Well good then, and thanks for subbing. =)

  • The information they gave you about Serotonin is not correct. They can't measure Serotonin in the brain so they are just guessing. I do have a chemical inbalance now from Serotonin Syndrome. I'm glad your doc told you about this. Every one on SSRI's, SNRI's, MAOI's. I had a nasty case of this: most of the symptoms and some others. I was not told about this until it almost killed. You should mention that is can put you into a coma or kill you.

  • @ipsurvivor I am very glad that you made it through.

  • Thank you for your posting. Did you check "GetPharmacyAdvice" on the same subject ?

  • u need to study wy more u taking to much dopepaine

  • im on 20mg off celexa works well.

  • To add to that. If you add Dextromethorphan and you are on SSRIs, then you may have Serotonin Syndrome....yes life threatening! Any cold product with DM in it could put you in trouble if you are on SSRIs.

  • Some truth to this but it always comes down to details and I keep in mind that the devil is in the details. My suggestion is ask your doctor when you make a visit, good luck with that. The meds do not cause prod of more serotonin, they prevent reuptake making it more avail to perform it's function at Central Nervous system i.e. the brain. That is why the most common seen meds for this are Selective Serotonin Uptake Inhibitors. Meds that increase this are common OTC meds like Dextromethorphan.

  • I nearly died from serotonin syndrome. Was in a coma for two weeks and on life support.

NEVER take effexor and tramadol together....
