American Whitewater worked with local conservation and recreation groups, the Forest Service, county officials and local contractors to tear out the 26 foot high Hemlock Dam from a tributary of the Wind River and restore a wild river in 2009.
Trout on the Wind documents the removal of the dam and the restoration of over 14 miles of wild Steelhead habitat. Through the hard work of local conservation advocates and the combined resources of local hydropower companies, environmental groups and others, the river channel was restored and locals are now enjoying the natural areas around this beautiful and historic reach of Trout Creek.
