Japanese Suika Wari ( Watermelon Splitting) on 4th of July with Takeo スイカ割り

スイカ(Suika) is watermelon and 割り(wari) is "split". When Takeo says "Just Kidding" He is saying Nanchatte.

Watermelon splitting is a popular game for summer days at the beach or picnics. If you read Shonen manga love comics then you have seen it before. Whenever a manga has a story about summer with school kids, they always do suika wari. It's very common in romance, or love story anime and manga. If you don't know about the 4th of July, it's a holiday that celebrates the American Independence. They celebrate with fireworks. Japanese summer festivals are also celebrated with fireworks, so in a way suikawari is a good tradition for 4th of July.
This party was held in Venice Beach, Los Angeles California. We had a great day because we surfed and then had this party. Yay for summer.
