This animated 8BIT sprite method has been used in the The 8-Bit area in Leiter for awhile now. It was even mentioned in an update in as a method for the upcoming animated baddies. They were not added because of lag and nearby particle eaters (so it was used for smoke only for the time being). It was also known among some as a method for future avatars such as this, once the land relocated and opened.
