FINALLY Here is the honest truth about John Denver's accident - taken from the final NTSB Final Report (LAX98A008) and the Monterey County coroners postmortem examination (#97-227).

You will have to stop the video to read a few frames - (unless you are a true speed reader) but I suggest that you stop the video to read each of the frames - (there are only 5 or 6 of the 49 pictures) and then watch it again - without stopping it. Enjoy and learn!

This video was made in Atlanta, Georgia for my good Friend Kathy - it was made on her request (I started it in August 2008 but I got lazy) and posted April 11, 2009. Kathy died of liver failure in California - only hours after this video was posted. She never saw it. My heart is broken for Kathy, my dear friend!

Godspeed, Kathy, you will be missed -fly away songbird!!!

  • what I heard on the news was that his papr plane got caught in a storm and crashed in the ocean and....too graphic.

i didnt see anything abot any storms in here ?

    thats cnn for you!

  • @Matey3 The CNN report is on YouTube - and there were NO storms!!! He just completed 18 holes of golf with friends!!!!!

  • You can google and read the truth about the accident on line. The whole FAA final report is published for public viewing. It is wrong to listen to hear say and read old tabloid nonsense. The proof is in the pudding which is in the FAA report. John left a legacy in his music and in his life. To tarnish such a legacy is because of pure ignorance is a tragic sin.

  • @airnut52 Yoo will also find that the FAA report that is online is EXACTLY as this one is - mine just did not take 4 years to make!!!!

  • You are truly an amazing person!! WOW...what you did in his honor I KNOW made him smile!! I never once believed the garbage and smears the media hype said I KNEW he was a more qualified pilot than most people are to drive a car!!! YOU brought closure on his accident and I will always be thankful for your posting. I would have been the happiest person in the world to have been able to have seen his live.......that dream never happened, but I will love him FOREVER...again....THANKS!!

  • @debyj1952 You missed a good concert - I went to 23 John Denver concerts over the years - my fist in 1972 and my last in 1996!!! He LOVED to come to Atlanta - and Atlanta loved him - at his heigth- selling out the 45,000 seat OMNI - 3 times in 3 days!!!!!

  • @clintsdatter This is a video of a brilliant man's unespected death!! You figure out a way to sugar coat it!!!! If you do not want to hear the truth - then don't ask for it by watching the video. The ending of all life is terrible - but it will happen to all of us. Don't expect the ending of John Denver's life to be any different. Although a brilliant entertainer with many gifts - he was a man like the rest of us and his death still saddens us all. I will miss the songs that were to be!

  • @crazychiefwolf You heard wrong - no drugs were ever found - in the plane or in/on his body. There were MANY incorrect reports - because reporters did not ask - they simply made it up!! And he was NEVER a druggie - his drug use was limited to smoking a few joints in the early 1970's and he said he did not like it at all. His drug was LIFE!!!!!!!

  • I'll never forget where I was when he died. (Big Pine) So many people I love have died in airplane crashes. Even one great photograper and his wife near Lone Pine and many others. I always tell people, Don't buy an airplane! I know what your thinking but can't help it.

  • Wolverton please not Wolferton. Give me a break.

  • I appriciate this video, Earthlinked. I was not critcizing you but others who don't know the facts. Thank you for posting a great video.

  • This song is beautiful, this video put's tears in my eyes. I'm glad for the closure, for his kids & family. One day, I will return to Aspen. He has always been a favorite of mine. Close to my heart, I miss him. I was able to see him in concert at the end of his career & life. We are all better off because of John Denver, his legacy lives on. To me I like thinking he died the way he wanted to go. I could never see him old, or very sick. He had such a beautiful spirit & God took him home.

  • Thank you, well done. RIP John.
