@kalloused It should also be noted that the bible was conceptualized by a semi-nomadic desert dwelling culture, so direct reference to it without understanding of the context of the society and world at that time is not necessarily a good idea.

Second because the world is turning to universalism doesn't make it right. Except that it does fulfill the prophecies.
If you reject the laws then you reject G_d. As Jesus said he was only here to fulfill them. He never said he was here to change them. That tradition was and is promoted by churches who do not care about even Jesus' teachings.

@onemarktwoyou then why aren't you out actively killing homosexuals? Have you ever played football? why didn't you kill your mother when she wore a cotton/wool blend dress? Have you eaten shrimp before? Would you kill your child if they went to Harvard medical school,became a doctor ad had to work on sunday to save lives? Do you think God wants these things today? Is he up there waiting to send firemen who save lives on sunday to hell? hundreds of biblical practices are rejected..

The bible is about a kingdom(s). An earthly one and a heavenly one. Anything else is only related to that fact.
If as you state it is a 'model', then why reject some parts then accept others? Then you also reject one of its great teachings of obedience to a supreme god. To love thy G_d is its greatest commandment.
Do you really think the Laws they had was without reason, if so why were they written?
What is sad is the book of Job is lost on you.

@onemarktwoyou It's not rocket science, it baffling that it is to so many people. I just take the bible for what it is, a guide on how to be a good person and love your fellow man. It's sad how much is lost in translation over thousands of years. people can't understand one simple message that this book is trying to send.
