Three very different objects are shown and described. One is a huge bronze bell cast in 1897, which belonged to the US Lighthouse Service. Another is the historic six-inch gun from the US battleship MAINE, sunk in Havana harbor in 1898, triggering the Spanish-American War. The third is a large titanium sphere made for the submersible ALVIN. The sphere weighs nearly four tons. Visit our webstore: http://www.springfieldarsenal.net/main.sc We are Springfield Arsenal LLC.

  • Interesting artifacts. Where is this museum?

  • The Museum of the United States Navy is in the historic Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC, not too far from the US Capitol buliding.

  • is there any other historic sites in that area

  • Yes, many-Ford's Theater, Fort Washington MD, Annapolis MD (Naval Academy etc.), Fort Ward, VA., , really too many to list here. Come visit.

  • Great video.........I did'nt now any part of the Maine was saved. Thanks and I hope you post more videos, really enjoyed this.

  • He meant standard tons, not metric, a standard ton is2000 lbs not 3000 :P

  • actually 4119 lbs is not 2.5 metric tons, if that is what you meant i mean, its about 1.9 tons. Not that it is important
