Made in Germany | Saving Water with German Technology

Some areas of Spain are experiencing severe water shortages, but many Spaniards still don't see the need to conserve it. On average they each consume some 250 liters of water per person every day -- more than any other Europeans.

But now new technology is making it easier to use less of this vital resource. For instance, buildings can now recycle their own water. The Pontos company, a subsidiary of the German firm Hansgrohe, has developed a system to use bacteria to clean waste water from showers and sinks so that it can be used again -- to flush toilets, for example. The Pontos recycling unit is now being used at the Casa Camper Hotel in Barcelona. Consumers and architects can learn more about the technology at the Water Expo in Zaragoza, which runs until September 14. Pontos is hoping to win many contracts in Spain, but with water still being heavily subsidized there, it'll be a tough sell.

Yeh, the I'd rather be sitting (and possibly splashing a bit) over pure water.....sometimes you have to wipe if off yourself ya know.

@enkidu23 Dont have to be that pure for YOU. Maybe there are people who want pure and inodorous water.

I think it´s a good idea to use used water or rain water to flush the toilet.

But I don´t understand why they use such an expensive system (28ooo€) for purification when the purified water only has to flush the toilet.

I mean for flushing toilets water doesn´t need to be that pure.
