I have one Kirby Morgan Band mask dive as part of a familiarization program in the US navy. It was an interesting dive. They also had me dive the MK V twice. Maybe divers who have never dived the MK V don't have anything to reference against the Kirby Morgan when they are complaining?

The KMB is great hat for cold water. I used to use one diving for geoducks several years ago, but you need to dive more than 40 ft or else it's too bouyant and you'd get a sore jaw from protruding it to keep the hat on your head.

In a biohazardous enviornment the Kirby Helmets (or similar) are the only thing to use. Even if it's just a couple meters deep. You don't want fecal matter or other scary stuff touching any of your skin or head.

talking about scary stuff, during that particular dive, a water snake came to say hello right in front of my face while I was under the hull of the ship during my patching work. scared the shit out of me and i swam back to the starboard side

Used to hate the Kirby Morgan Band mask, it was so heavy, even underwater at a 6th of the weight. Unless you were cleaning pipes or barnacles from boats, try using that when ur lyin flat out doin evidence search.

Well the Kirby is not meant for doing scientific research.I do agree with you in a way.
