This is the Lasek (using PRK) surgery of my eyes done on April 11, 2008, performed by Dr. Chynn at Park Avenue Laser in New York City.

It is the last few seconds of the right eye, and the entire procedure of the left eye.

Pros: State of the art equipment; friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff.

Cons: I didn't get to meet Dr. Chynn until right before the surgery (their website says otherwise); recovery time was longer than alluded to (and yes, I know Lasek recovery takes longer than Lasik); Post Op prescription medication was expensive and Insurance did not cover much of the cost of them.

Overall experience was very good. If you are considering Laser Vision Correction, I would definitely recommend Park Avenue Laser.

  • Check this website you'll will see how custom lasik eye surgery is made take note its 'custom' using high end technology.

    site name: soroudivision

  • what if the power just somehow got screwed up on that lazer and it FRIES your poor eyeball.....what can you do to fix it then???

  • what about the pain???

    how long does it take?

    :) plzzz answer!!!!

do you see during this procedure???

  • When they put the contact in they need to move it around to remove that air bubble so it won't slip out the eye!!

  • You know, I see several of these surgeries listed as LASEK. I have yet to see a procedure yet that is actually LASEK... The epithelium was discarded on every "Park Avenue Laser LASEK" video I have viewed. This is plain ol' PRK.

  • Sorry but can you remind me how long ago it is since you had the lasek? I took a trip to a park in the country yesterday and theres a road that brtings you up the side of a mountain right up to the top to a viewing point and WOW i couldnt believe how far i could and how clear and good everything looked i just stood there amazed for about 15 minutes it really is like HD :)

  • It comes and goes, it also depends on my sleep etc. I really enjoy being outside watching landscapes in "HD" now, but watching a monitor can be a bit frustrating. I haven't noticed huge improvements the last week or so. But watching stuff at a distance is incredible.

  • Your eyes seem so similar to mine your right about the patience i think. Did you notice much improvement after 3 or 4 weeks or did it just improve a small bit

  • Nice to hear. I still have a bit of trouble when reading and looking at a monitor. Feels like my right eye tends to get dry and irritated faster and I'm having trouble when I want to focus on letters etc. with that eye. The other one is crystal clear like I have super vision on that eye. Patience seems to be the keyword with LASEK.

  • Hi how are you. Oh ya pain went away thank god. It was a big reliief to get the bandage lens out but there was still pain later that day and the following day all is good now though. Vision is a lot lot better in this eye but does not seem to be as clear and detailed as the other non lasek eye but im hoping this will get better over time. Its only been about 2 weeks since the lens came out
