@bioskills Wow Thats awesome news! i have damaged discs same as you L4 thru s1 and would love to get this surgery! if you don't mined how much did it cost you?
@havachukl Hi there, i live in N.Z and have had alot of trouble with my L4 L5 discs for the last few years and have often thought about disc replacement! would love to know how your getting on? and how much it cost etc?
I am 30 yrs old and just had back surgery on my L4/L5 on tues 12/13. They took out my bad disc. At first the one dr wanted to do a fusion but a second opinion was brought in and since my disc was herniated severely they said it would be best to just take out the disc for now. I have seen videos for the disc replacement in Germany but I'm going to speak w my dr where I am and see if they can do it.. Thank you so much for posting this vid and great because its the exact issue I have...
@redshaftedflicker Thnx... would be nice to go to Germany, heard they are perfecting "Disc Replacement Surgery" Just gotta save the cash. Always say NO TO FUSIONS & Microdiscectomy's.
@deadat45 The States suck as well with HMO but at least you're honest. I talked to a Canadian gentleman about the system up there. It surely sounds like it does suck. Save your money and go to Germany. From what I hear, they have this method wired. SAY NO TO FUSIONS.
@Bigboomer1973 man... I know it's a large chunk of cash, but the spine is no place to be a cheap skate. I've had 4 operations... all discectomies or laminotimies, no fusions. I've known 4 people who have had fusions, one took his own life after 10 years because living with rods in your back is painful even if done right. The other 3 are probably jealous of the first.
i had this done L5-S1, 6 weeks ago in india as fusion is the only option here in nz,
my op was done in mumbai by dr kulkarni, i was walking the day after and out of hospital 5 days later, the tummy cut hurt the most but only for a few of days,
im up and about in no pain just a bit uncomfortable sitting for long periods, im working hard on my core strength physio, feels good after 5 years of back pain.
I had 2 of these put in my back in july of 98. one failed and had to be replaced in oct 09. wellmark blue cross and blue shield will NOT pay for this surgery.

Would almost have to win a lottery to get this procedure: Here in Canada I am sure our public health care would not pay for this.... Life sucks!!!!
