Brit Pavelson: "The letters in this work are folded by hand and spray-painted one-by-one. The defects of the letters become part of their charm, making every letter unique. It's like a haute couture version of a typeface. This to me describes a characteristic of De Bijzondere Collecties -- the appreciation of original relationships between content, design and print. They draw attention to the rarities of printed matter that otherwise wouldn't have a home in the grey area between mass-produced books and original artworks."
