Toujours autant de plaisir à écouter Roberto, belle interprétation.

Comme très souvent la partition originale est modifiée par le chanteur...mais la voix est belle et le public ne connaît pas la partition écrite...alors....reste le plaisir de l'écoute...

In his French repertoire Alagna is truly a master and has a spiritual affinity with the composer and the soul of the music. You can know that he is a Parisian by the way he brays his r's and would be taken to task by all other Frenchmen who say the Parisians ruin their language, but then we know that all Frenchmen are slightly mad! He is in such fine voice here, but his top notes are just beginning to show the strain that he came under by over-performing. Bravo Alagna!

@Englishtenor2 True, but have you seen his E lucenvan la stelle? He is just as good in that.

Alagna is just fine in this. However, He has the tendency to go sharp in the high notes. Perhaps he is pushing too much. That apart, this is a good rendition. His french is is excellent.

Back when he sang relatively well- Alagna was really wonderful particularly in the French repertoire, and particularly when he stayed lyric.

No tenor is perfect, but of the tenors we have today I love Alagna. He is often over-commercialized. We get to see in his soul more in these live performances. His use of French is unique. Very rarely to we hear the gutteral "r" yet he does it with such finesse. Also, there is no denying he has one of the great tenor voices of the late 20th and now 21st centuries. I love this aria for the sentimental simplicity and smooth line. Bravo Roberto! Don't be afraid to show us who you are.
