Applying joint locks effectively can take many years of training and, even then, you can still get it wrong. For me, locks compliment strikes but, having said that, it's not always appropriate to strike someone... however much you feel like doing so. Lock flows (or 'chaining' of locks together) is an important part of learning how to use an opponent's energy/power against them...

@FasStudio Hello again. Sorry to hear about your knee condition. I hope that the Aikido won't adversely affect it and aggravate your condition.
