I was in New York City for a Red Sox - Yankees Series and happened to find myself near Ground Zero when the first plane struck The North Tower (WTC 1). This event changed history and certainly left an indelible mark on my life. I will never forget seeing, smelling, hearing, and feeling the events of that day as long as I live, While I never intended to write a song about 9-11, one day it just came to me, and I knew I had to write it down. The song is true from my personal experience, but focuses more on where we are in its aftermath. This year marks the 10th anniversary of 9-11 and the memories are just as powerful today as they were a decade ago. I still continue to hope all the lives lost weren't in vain and that somehow we can find peace in this world. But as the last line in the second verse goes: "Maybe I'm just a fool who's asking way too much. " I hope you enjoy the song. God Bless America.
This video was recorded at the Commodore Grille and Lounge in Nashville, TN on September 10, 20011. By the way, Roy Orbison's drummer was accompanying. How cool is that ? !!

Hey Wes, good song. Glad you were able to walk away that day unlike so many other innocent people who perished. God bless the USA.
