  • No offense, but there are no Natal-Rats in germany - expect in labs probably. Studies shown, that all the ASFs kept and breed in germy are M. Coucha or Hybrids.

  • best is to take a brush and go over the mouse(not the head)to make them femilliar with touching.after a while you give them food with a large pincet(they jused it for to give mouses to snakes)and after a while they take food out off you're hand!!!!and then you can let them come into you're hand, and dont move, she has to trust this first.and later you van move you're hand and she will do nothing!!mine was first verry agressive, and after 2 months ,she was as calm as a rat or mouse.greets kristel

  • they ar e normally calm,i had them and they where verry friendly.when they had little baby's ,i took them in my hand and the mother and father allow me to do it.they play allot in a spinning wheel(i don't know how you called it in english)and they where funny to watch.but when you bying them ,and people before pick them up ,by the tail, they don't trust people anymore,it's verry painfull for a mouse or rat to do that!!!!but when you are gentle with them ,after a while you can make them tame!

  • @TheCryptid09 Have you had one of these! ? You are dead wrong. Mine bit me so badly I had to go on antibiotics for 10 days. I have had rats for 12 years but met my match in the Natal rat!

  • Thats absolute rubbish they are like rats or mice, they can be tamed if handled at a young age. Like most animals in fact.

  • I have owned lot and lots of these rats and none were biters...

  • Yeah you are right. Maybe we are both right. The are pretty rats, I just wish they were as friendly as ordinary domesticated rats.

  • wow, what a nice cage they have! most of them have to live in small breeding boxes.

  • Cute as heck, but they BITE. Need to be bred for temperament.

  • nice muiltimammates. have a few my self. waiting for them to get bigger
