Tutorial on how to increase the volume of any given track in Garageband beyond 6.0 db. Until I knew how to do this, I was stumped when I had recorded a part too low and didn't really want to re-record it. In this video I will show you how to do it with easy to follow on-screen instructions with voice over.

How to increase the volume of a track in Garageband when it's turned up all the way already: Simply open your Edit feature of the instrument you want to increase the volume on, click on an empty area to "add an effect". Scroll down and select "peak limiter". Double click the Peak Limiter to edit the feature and use the mouse to increase or decrease the amount of db from -40db to +40.db.

Screen capture made possible by the program "Screenium" for Mac. An excellent tool for videos like this!

  • @SoGreat2BWhite Why didn't you just ask "the other side" how to do it, with a OUIJA board? Are you telling me the undead don't know the ins and outs of the AUPeakLimiter in Garageband? :)

  • Thanks

  • @LAMClosangeles You're welcome. I'm glad that this helped.

  • Thanks man, you saved the day! Somehow when I record my guitar track using just the integrated microphone, there's always a sudden drop in volume level after a few seconds, I don't know why it happens. At least your trick allowed me the fix my track.
