I found an empty shell casing from an M16 round and decided to model it in 3D Studio Max. Then I added a bullet, made several copies of the whole thing, and animated them. This video and more (in high quality H.264 format) at http://FreymanArt.com/misc.htm

  • how did you texture those bullets?

  • @ryanjohnsond I used a built-in standard reflective textures without raytracing. It's just an environment map with barely any shading, designed to simulate a mirrored surface without the computational expense of ray-tracing.

  • @bryceguy72 Thanks bryceguy72 for responding. I don't think Maya has a standard reflective map set to chrome or copper like Max (other one i used). Did you use Bryce?

  • @ryanjohnsond Sure, no prob. Nope, no Bryce, just 3D Studio Max 2011. I don't think Bryce is capable of environment maps, only true ray-traced reflections.

  • u used lathe mofifier to model the bullets, right?

  • @alextheheck Yep
