Truffles, female border collie, rescued and adopted. Truffles lived her life in a fence with 10 other dogs until her adoption about a year ago. She'd already had at least one litter of pups and she was under 16 mos old. She has made wonderful progress. She doesn't resemble the same littly shaky- tail between legs, absolutely submissive , not even knowing her name, unsocialized and fearful, pup. holding elimination for over 17 hours routinely because she was afraid to go in front of people (to now, going quickly & on command - so smart that if she doesn't need to go- she fakes it - squats, looking over her shoulder as if to say "this is all I can do now- is it ok?"..that is funny! She came to me on valentines day 06 along with 3 others from same place- for me to provide temp/emergency housing until fosters were found in the BC rescue group. They were here only a couple of months and we fell in love with Truffles. My son Tommy adopted her and she now lives with him in his college condo . We are so proud of what Tommy has done with Truffles and also very proud of Truffles for becoming who she was meant to be.

  • I had a border collie as a kid in a rural area. He was a great kid dog. I found this because was looking at truffle hunting. Some of the best truffle dogs in europe are border collies.

  • sorry for delay in responding- haven't been checking my post lately. Thanks for your comment and yes BCs do make wonderful pets. I am at a loss as to what truffle hunting is??? The dog in the clip got her name from the "candy"..because she is sooo sweet. Again thanks

  • thanks for watching and commenting Rhoda. Tommy, like me loves animals, but is better than me, he has energy, co-ordination, flexibility and can keep up with Truffles. I am so HAPPY for both of them.

  • thanks kooldancer123, sounds like Teddy is fun for you! thanks for your comment.

  • twinkart, so happy to hear. Yes, Tommy is our youngest son...loves animals and presently studying to become a vet. Truffles has a good home.

  • Thanks twinkart, yes we think Truffles is REALLY cool.Actually, I was temp/emergency fostering her along with 3 others from same surrender. We fell in love with her and my son adopted her. He's thrilled to have his own canine companion at college with him.

  • PS... I commented by accident on my daughters sight before kooldancer123 LOL

  • Your son has done a great job with her, and she's so pretty too! I guess he takes after his mom:)

  • Carolyn,

She reminds me of our Teddy, he is that intense with things & sharp, very quick. Pretty girl Truffles is! Thanks for sharing.:)

  • Oh, your son is the talented 'dad'! Makes sense. Your vids make me smile - thank you.
