@clarazerty Many American Jewish kids, especially in NY go to Jewish day schools and spend summers in Israel, and listen to Israeli music, so their Hebrew is pretty good. There are also thousands of Israelis living there. It is really soooo cool to speak Hebrew, a language that was "dead" for 2000 years and resurrected by Ben Yehuda and now we have the most beautiful songs in the language, our language!

Well I tell you what, they are probably mostly Jewish and saw the movie Yossi and Jagger, and knew when to sing the parody

The english version is not the english translation of this song. The translated lyrics are much more beautiful. Do a YouTube search for the Rita version with lyrics. Ivri is awesome, and so is this song. Too bad the english version does not do it justice.
