Introduction

• Many people have fax machines and would like to get a copy of incoming faxes sent to their email. This for the most part has been rather challenging process for even the most seasoned geek!

• It is important to note that many companies have selected to outsource the fax to email function rather than do so in house. In our course today you will learn how to send faxes to email addresses without having to pay a monthly service fee to an external company.

1) In your email client software, under Outgoing mail, set the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com.
2) Set the your username is yourgooglemailname@gmail.com and make sure "Use username and password" is checked.
3) Also check off "TLS" under "Use secure connection."

  • It seems so easy but if you could help me if something. I`m running Vista Ultimate with built in fax and scan. I have DID number in Tokyo and would like to use this for receiving faxes received from fax machines to my email as PDFs. Is this possible. I don`t want to use any external fax machine or modem.

    By the way, AutoMail is not free. It cost 20euro

  • As long as the fax software application can save the file as a bitmap you should be ok... what error are you getting?
