the diane dane chacter was based on jackie deshannon who had a reputation for lets say chating up the young boy bands on tour with her in the first brit invasion...ask peter noone, better known as herman with the hermitts
This song WAS sung by Diane Dane, her character in the film was fictitious. Like the song "when you hold my hand, you hold my heart" was shown as sung by the Chantrillines, they were a real group in the 60's - they just got actors to lip sync in the movie. This is a great song and one of my favorites from the movie.
My favorite song from that album and I don;t know the real person who sang it! Diane Dane was the character in the film and the album liner notes are written as if all the fictional groups created for the film really exited on the Playtone label. (Read them, they are quite entertaining. Diane Dane's career was kind of sad, like her character.)Whoever she is the song is perfect for the film and I include it on my 1960"s list in my iTiunes because it sounds so much like the time.
Sadly they don't make music like this anymore.

Just love this tune! Can't believe it didn't get more air time. It's certainly worthy of it. Just fantastic!!
