I could listen to this stuff all day. I liked the Firehouse 5 Plus 2 when a kid, then the Dukes of Dixieland. Pete Fountain is great whoever he's with. Can't get enough of it!!
Yes I know Pete is still alive and still playing, good for him and all who love him. I've tried to copy my own clarinet sound to Pete's. A lot of people tell me I sound a lot like him. But there will only be one Pete Fountain.
George was great, too bad he retired from on air trumpet. He stayed on until the end as an arranger. I remember him playing once in the late 60's and around 73 as a special cameo

pete is still around...he is 78! and still playing down here in new orleans and mississippi :)

Tommy Dorsey was real fond of George Thow's trumpet playing, too ... had to be strong. They had 1 trumpet and 3 trombones in the brother's band!

These guys were great.Its a shame they are not around anymore.Pete had the best sound on clarinet of anyone that I know of.
