I woke up with the California sunshine in
my face The sound of Mr. Wallace lawn
mower in full Speed but it didn't matter
today is the day I've been waiting for
graduation and one step more Closer in
me becoming Mrs. Jonas

I rolled out of bed and headed for the
shower My smile never disappearing as
I dried off And began to get ready I sat
on my chair in Front of my mirror as I
reached for my make Up box my hand
brushed against the picture Frame next to
it making it fall to the ground

I picked it up and my eyes met the with
the Picture, the picture of my mom I trace
my Finger along it, remembering her smile
and Laugh she would be so happy right now
if She were here helping me with my Hair
saying how proud she is of me and that
Whatever I have decided in life she would
Support me that's just always how she was

Ben: Selena are you almost ready?
you Don't want to be late

My thoughts escaped my mind as I heard
My dad's voice shout through the house

Selena: yes dad almost..

I hurried up and applied my make-up
and Got changed I looked at myself in
the mirror Smile I grabbed my cap and
gown and headed To the living room

Ben: ready?
Selena: yes let's go

We got into my dads pick up truck and
headed To the high school the car ride
was silent this Has been the way me and
my dad's relationship Has been since my
mom died 3yrs ago he became a silent
person a man of few words and when I
started dating Nick it became worst he
parked The car

Selena: I'll see you inside
Ben: alright

I walked inside the gym with all the
other fellow Graduates and began
looking for Taylor my best Friend since
kindergarten it didn't take me long To
spot her through the crowd her tall self
made It easy

Selena: blondy!
Taylor: shorty!

She gave me a hug

Taylor: Lena it's happening we
are Graduating!
Selena: I know

Her smile suddenly faded and her
face became Serious

Taylor: I still can't believe your not
coming To NYU with me that was our
plan since we Were 7 to leave this
lame town and go to New York
Selena: Taylor you know why I'm not
going
Taylor: he is just a boy, not even a good
one
Selena: I love him
Taylor: your going to be stuck in this small
Shitty town all your life Lena

She turned around obviously mad as you
can See she doesn't like Nick either no
one that's Close to me does they all say
he's no good For me that I'm going to be
stuck here in Cali For the rest of my life,
you might be thinking California is not
that bad well your wrong I Live in a small
town far a away from the glitz And glamour
of Hollywood

Finally the ceremony began as we made
our Way to our seats I glazed up into the
audience I spotted my dad he actually had
a smile on his Face, then I began looking for
him until I found Him a couple of seats away
I smiled at him as He did to me I read his lips
he said I love you

Ben: congratulations!

My father gave me a hug a big hug
something He hasn't done in a while

Selena: thanks

Nick walked over to us he looked at
my dad he Ignored the awkwardness
and pulled me into A hug

Nick: I'm so happy for you baby!
Selena: I'm happy high school is over

We both pulled away when we heard my
dad clear his throat

Ben: I'll see you at home Selena not
Too Late please!

He said glaring at Nick before he walked
away My dad really hates him but it's funny
if it Wasn't for my dad I would've never
met him.
