Children Left Behind is about the well-intended purposes that are driving the high stakes testing movement in the public schools, and its unintended consequences. The compelling stories of students who are struggling with these tests provide a springboard for the exploration of the psychological, educational, political and moral issues associated with high stakes testing. The social justice issues are palpable. Testing is a ubiquitous part of our global society. The documentary raises the important question of whether we are leaving too many children behind in our quest for higher test scores.

  • Thanks for the Bravo. I am becoming increasingly convinced that we need to collaborate and share resources and ideas across state lines in order to defeat high stakes testing within our states.

  • i feel for these kids their left behind. is a bad feeling

  • Testing lobbyists and educational policy makers who have never been educators and who haven't seen the inside of a school since they attended one are running our school systems into the ground. Real teachers are moved to tears by this. We feel just like the kids; constantly demoralized, and threatened with termination or decertification for insisting on truly educating students instead of teaching them to just pass a test. Do the best you can to send your kids to a great private school.

  • Bravo! Exit exams are one of the most disastrous forms of high stakes testing. Is being a good test taker the only skill that matters in high school? We are fighting back in California. But as we stop one form of nonsense another raises its head: now it is national standards.
