If you weren't there at the time I can only sympathize. These were the greatest days in British middle distance history. Inspiring and wonderful nights for any young athlete like me at the time. Thanks very much for posting.

If the pacemaker had dropped out at 400m and Coe hadn't had to run wide round him on the curve, Coe's time would have been 1:41.5

@ImreAMX Hi! Found them on a DVD on ebay just over a year ago called "The Great Milers" .Fairly inexpensive ,too!

@bangtwister Cheers! Still brings a lump to the throat,ay? Remember when I was a kid my old man would waffle on about Wooderson ,Zatopek and Pirie,etc. and I'd be thinking "it was ages ago--forget it!" . Understand where he was coming from,now...
