"I Will Follow Him" began as an instrumental piece written by two French composers, Franck Pourcel and Paul Mauriat. Lyrics were lated added by Jacques Plante and the song was titled "Chariot" when Petula Clark first recorded it in 1961. It was later adapted into English by Norman Gimbel, retitled, and Little Peggy March took the song to #1 on the pop charts during the spring of 1963 under the production guidance of Hugo & Luigi. Peggy was born Margaret Annemarie Battavio in Pennsylvania and was given the name Little Peggy March because she was born in March, just under 5' tall and only 13 years old when this was recorded.

  • She recorded this at 13? Really?

  • @iwantpepperoni Hard to believe, but that she did. Brenda Lee also recorded some incredible music at about the same age.

  • @martinbigman62 Very much alive! Margaret Battavio (Little Peggy March) performs here in Las Vegas quite often, usually in some revival of 'girl groups' or other oldies concert. She's quite tall, and still a sparkling sight to see! (Cute for sure). I don't know where she lives, but it just may be here in Vegas.

  • it's a great song

  • @iwantpepperoni she was only 13, the record she did with them was "Little Me," and her birthday was in March.

Born on March 8, 1948, Margaret Annemarie Battavio recorded on April 24, 1963, her single "I Will Follow Him" soared to number one on the U.S. charts.[1] Recorded in early January 1963 and released January 22, March was only 14 at the time.

She was only 13, when she recorded "Little Me.

  • I'll go with 15, not 13. Great song, and pretty mature for even a 15 yr. old. Great voice and vocals.

  • is she still alive if so is there a recent pic?
