Changing of the Guard 1861-2009 1st Brigade Band

This is a recreation of an American Civil War band from Wisconsin playing period music, period instruments, and using period arrangements. It was first assigned to the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and later reconstituted as the 1st Brigade Band of Shermans Army of the Tennessee, marching with that Army to the sea. The original band had 26 members, rather large for a regimental band of that era, and we see about that number here. Notice the over the shoulder instruments facing rearward toward the troops and you will also notice a change in character of the music as I cross behind the Band in the fifth piece. After a century and a half, experience the sight and sound of a Union Army band on the march.

Sure looks HQ to me, but then again lighting makes the difference between poorer grainy images and clear.

sometimes a day or so later and after addtional processing the HQ version will show up. Even so the video focus is quite sharp! The large size of the video suggests that HQ is now the 'default' at YouTube - which might well be true. They are continually upgrading. Bob M
