  • I fill out application at Kroger 4 months ago, few days my mom calls at Kroger she say she wants me work there on part-time and I am deaf. The Manager said I will not hire her (me) because I am deaf. It was impossible... many deaf people work all the buildings. It sucks. I'm only deaf and I attend High School.

  • Gloomybrica, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. It is illegal for a manager not to hire you because of a disability and you may want to let the regional manager for the chain know about your experience. There are other places though that can help you get a job. The One-Stop career centers have resources for youth and summer jobs and there may be a disability coordinator who can help you get assistance you might need. Email me at sheila.fesko@umb.edu and I can give you some resources.
