If you tried this kind of thing even once you know it can be tough. These posts ARE in fact encouraging. I have done very little by my own account--but let me just say I have helped with basics and talked about Jesus/Gospel/Word on the down low from time to time here in SoCal w/ zero fanfare... in fact I am 37 and this is the first time I have mentioned it EVER. It can be discouraging because it seems like ON ONE else around you cares about others--just themselves. KEEP IT UP R.D.!

wow, I can't believe what I read here from zo10, ..very negative,brother ..the body(us) of Christ should be rejoicing to see "reál"disciples out there on the streets, feeding the poor with food and the Word...well done, my brothers and sister,,you made my heart happy to see your ministry...and telling us about it will encourage us to do likewise...the brethren are told to ENCOURAGE one another...Jesus bless your ministry..

I cannot say we should hide our good deeds...the Scriptures does not say that. Jesus Christ had several good deeds that were seen by many. Some of them he told not to tell others, and others he did not. We are not video taping so that people will see our good deeds, we are video taping so that people will see the good deeds of Christ.

Are you assuming that, Matthew 6:1 "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them", is talking about motives? Where does it say motives? I don't see it.

But it clearly says : "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them". Regardless of the motives behind it, the point is clear. We should not let other people see our good deeds, right?

This video was not to show "our good deeds"...but to show the body what is suppose to happen...and to encourage the body of Christ that this is happening...

So when we look at Matthew 5:16 and Matthew 6:3-4, some can assume that they contradict eachother...but we can see that in Matthew 6:1 "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them" it is more of your motives behind your actions that Jesus was speaking on.

I said this because you quoted Matt 5:16 and made a video showing your good deeds that were supposed to be in secret according to Matt 6:3-4
