Not agreeing or disagreeing, but Kyle you have cameo-ed on Team Four Star and Channel Awesome, two concepts while legit due to fair use, but also considered as "Piracy promoters" by SOPA/PIPA/ACTA/CISPA Advocates, MPAA, and anime companies alike both Japanese and English dub. The same people you are defending. It kinda makes your 2 cents on the subject moot point on either side of the coin. That being said Bandai has been dying, if the pirates didn't do it something else would have.

The likely future of all entertainment media is going to be free. The internet is the free flow of information, and to try to stop that is to hold back the march of technology. Whether Kyle likes it or not, the old ways are going to be gone soon.

Most money is likely gonna come from advertisement or merchandise. You can use piracy to your advantage. The president of HBO even said piracy is a sign that there a fanbase for your product.

You either adapt or you perish.

Well honestly, I would say 95% of the entire, "fan-base" are pirates. I mean, have you been on those stream sites, thousands of people go on them. Including the fans in other countries. That's millions of dollars lost, all the piracy sites need to be taken down.

Also I heard Gohan in your voice <3

Very valid points, and thank you for mentioning the price gouging in other countries. Getting any kind of manga and anime in Australia is made difficult by the ridiculous prices. This actually does cause a lot of piracy seeing as most fans at the cons I've been to are students where their parents paid for it, so saving isn't an option there. The government is starting to investigate price gouging here in the digital world so fingers crossed they move to physical imports like manga and anime.

If you enjoy what you watch, buying it will not only give companies the money to produce more material, it will show them that there is an audience for that specific series and encourage them to put more focus on it in the future.

Sure, I'll admit I've watched my share of Anime pirated,

but as long as I like it, I always import the boxsets unless they're exceedingly price and/or out of print. After all, if I enjoy it, buying it only heightens the chances of getting more of it.

What we need is a digital download store for anime, tv shows and movies, thats another reason for piracy, there needs to be an easier way to buy it online, that'l help alot

i completely agree. i download plenty, but i also buy what i can, and when i do i make sure i'm buying legit.

what i hate is people who 'sell' bootlegs. thats the worst. when i want to go buy some super awesome shit, i want to pay for super awesome shit. not a crappy version of something i love.
