Finally got me some LM3916 ICs and re-built my circuit from previous videos.

LM3916 replaced the LM3915, producing a wider range of dynamic visuals. I also made the test display wider by putting two 5x7 modules side by side and wiring accordingly.

2 problems:
it's either clearly visible wave visuals with obvious scanning action, or smooth un-detectable scanning action without clear wave action (it just appears as a solid line moving up and down.

LEDs appear quite dim.

has anybody pulled this off with better results using a similar circuit design? I'm interested in "dazzling" visuals more than accuracy at this point.

any help/suggestions/comments/criticism welcome!
