One of the most visible aspects of the breakdown of Spain's Pact of Oblivion about its recent history has been the proliferation of Spanish Civil War re-enacting. The participants struggle to practice their hobby in a spirit of reconciliation, but it is challenging to keep one's motives pure in a society that resists change and tints all references to the past in the political colors of the era.
