nipple holes.... really..??

He doesn't make any distinction between "sticky" and "tacky". It would be nice if a little more detail were provided on this.

@ redsonixx yes iv seen another vid were there is 3 lots of glue on rim and 1 lot of glue on tire, myself I only put 1 layer of glue on the rim and tire wait for them to get tacky before applying then get tire lined up then pump tire upto 120 psi then leave for a few days to dry before riding them,

good video! man those tubular tires look finicky. I'd rather just use clinchers. I bet I wouldn't be able to feel the difference if someone switched wheels on me.

what's the best to use to remove old glue from a carbon rim? thanks

is it very important that the cotton strip is evan on both sides?, i understand that the the part of the tire that should be on the road is to much to the right or left. i recently baught a pair of mavic tubular wheels, and didnt feel quite up to the challenge of gluing them on, so i went to the bike shop, and paid £19.00 for them to do it. i only realised that they where lop sided when i got home.

Do you make house calls?

Spin the wheel to see if the tyre has a wobble if so take it back to the shop or reglue tyre. Please note that the sidewall and black rubber often come out of the mold uneven so they are not a good guides for centering the tyre (base tape is a better guide).

tufo extreme tape... there are pro's that say they can't tell the difference between the tape and glue.

@luscious9lips Nobody sells tape. Glue your tires on.

Maybe they could invent a steel/rubber or nylon cord that runs on the inside of the tyre. The exit hole would be on the opposite side to the valve and with a mighty twist it would pull the cord and tyre snuggly to the wheel.

They used the wire method during the late 1800s to mount hard rubber tires on Velocipedes (High Wheelers or Penny Farthings).

this seems like a royal pain in the ass, is it rrreeealy worth it?

Yes, mounting a tubular tire is a pain, but tubular wheels are stronger, lighter and faster that clincher wheels. Plus, tubular tires flexible around the road surface better that clinchers and rarely pinch flats.
