The problem with pacifists is that all you need to do to get them out of the way is the determination to kill all of them if they don't do what you want them to. And there will always ruthless people that want to rule that have the will to do that. You think the likes of Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, etc would have hesitated for one moment to kill anyone that disagreed with them that wouldn't fight back?

@roseagain2- I entirely agree with both of your posts. I just fail to see how these statements give Berg any relevance. Yes, we need a balance, but I believe our puppet government needs more than a Pacifist to cure it's ails. So, speaking in terms of relevance, the Bergs of our nation are of little use, in general, and in this case, entirely unnecessary- especially when it comes to taking any action aside from quoting Gandhi and starving yourself in public.

@OminousReason I think we have way more warmongers and chickenhawks than we do pacifists. We need a balance. Constant, endless wars will bankrupt us financially and spiritually. The people we are killing in the Middle East are unemployed and uneducated. So the only thing they have to live for is revenge. If we were educating them as fast as we are killing them they would not be foolish enough to join Al Queda or blow themselves up. You need a strong military but you have to use your brain too.

@OminousReason Have you ever heard of Ghandi?! And do you really believe we have been defending the women and children of Iraq and Afghanistan? I believe they are much worse off now than under Sadam. No one can even count the number of Iraqi deaths and now the number of birth defects this occupation has caused. Not to mention the thousands of amputees, brain trauma, suicides, broken families, homelessness and constant stress Americans and Middle Easterners will live with for generations.

We feel for Mr. Berg's loss, but this man, by his own admission, is a pacifist. FACT: Pacifism has never defended anyone, not one soul! If you are a man who would not defend the defenseless, who would not defend women and children, under any circumstances, then how can you possibly think for a fraction of a second your opinion is in any way valid in a debate concerning the fate and defense of an entire country??!! We need more Michael Bergs! Just like Ron Paul he understands the consequences of our foreign policies over the last many years. Of course Dr. Paul also knew the consequences of our economic policies.
