This video is to provide anyone interested in becoming a British Airways pilot with some information on our pilot recruitment plans, with personal insights from some of our pilots. (continue reading below)

Please note: the minimum educational requirements for the Future Pilot Programme are detailed on our website, www.bafuturepilot.com

***************************************************************************
We plan to take on more than 800 new pilots by 2016, using three combined recruitment programmes:

- A new programme to help people to train to become airline pilots for the first time, called the 'Future Pilot Programme'.
- Recruitment of qualified pilots from other airlines
- A joint initiative with the UK Armed Forces to provide military pilots with a planned career path into commercial aviation.

Our Future Pilot Programme will help about 400 applicants to gain a place at an approved flight training school, with successful candidates landing a job as a British Airways pilot, with the remaining 400 from experienced commercial and military pilots.

Previously people have been prevented or deterred from starting a career as an airline pilot, due to the initial private training costs of around £100,000, which they have had to find themselves. This programme helps students to secure funding to train as a pilot which they can pay back later in their career.

The details and requirements for anyone interested in applying for the BA Future Pilot Programme should be taken from the dedicated microsite http://www.bafuturepilot.com

  • Hello, @FlyBritishAirways I'm interested in starting my career as a pilot in June / July. Initially I intended to take a degree in aeronautical sciences in Portugal, but now I got interested after seeing this video.

What do I need since I have not started any specific course to be a pilot?

  • @HDMI85 Hi - please visit the Future Pilots website for further information. Thanks.

  • @kunkundhindsa i see they responded to you but yet they could not answere your question on here, gotta make you get on there site get those hits make that money.

  • hello

  • @magicmike1122

LOL...have you even earned your private pilot certificate yet? You have a long way to go before any major air-carrier will hire you, my friend....

  • When will you begin taking applications again? I am 17 almost 18 from the US and would love to fly for BA

  • @kunkundhindsa You will be required to have 5 GCSE's (A-C) grade, including maths and a science, preferably physics, and 2 (A-Levels), again in maths and physics. Another qualification which would be useful is a degree of a HND, but this isn't a direct requirement. Also, it is good to have some experience, such as joining cadets from a younger age, or more physical hands-on experience via. private flight training. The 'DOE' award is also worth considering.

  • "enables anybody from any background, regardless of there financial circumstances to pursue their aspiration", i think he meant to say " regardless of there financial circumstances, just as long as you happen to have £84,000 lying around for a deposit"
