"Come on, we have to go!" I yelled at him.
He picked up the phone, "I'll be right there!" he yelled into the phone.
I picked Nicky up and we ran to the car. I buckled Nicky up in her car seat then I sat in the passenger's side. Nick turned on the car and drove quickly to New York. It took us about three hours, but we finally arrived. Miley was still in labor, so Nick put on a hospital gown and hairnet and rushed into her room. I stayed with Nicky in the waiting area.
NICK'S POV:
Miley smiled as I ran into the room. She grabbed a quick hold of my hand and began to squeeze it. I felt like my fingers were going to snap. Her hair was sticking to her sweaty forehead and tears were rolling down her cheeks.
"I can't do it!" she cried.
"Yes, you can. Just push," I instructed her.
"It hurts," she cried.
"Don't think about the pain, just think about having your baby in your arms," I told her.
She continued to push, then I heard a baby cry.
"You did it!" I looked back at Miley.
Her eyes were closed. Her heart monitor flatlined. I looked over at the doctor, "What's going on?!"
They took the baby to the back of the room and the doctor rushed to Miley's side. They shocked her heart, but it wouldn't restart. I looked over at the baby, then at Miley again and my heart sank. This couldn't be happening. After a few failed attempts, the doctor pronounced Miley dead at eight forty-three in the evening. I cried. Even though I wasn't with her anymore, I still cared about her. I walked over to the baby and I couldn't deny him. He looked just like me when I was a baby. The nurse handed him over to me and I kissed his head. Christopher Jonas.
The nurse took him to the nursery and I walked back into the waiting room to find an excited Selena and Nicky.
"Is it a boy or a girl?!" she smiled.
"Boy," I replied.
"Did you order a DNA?" she asked.
"I don't have to, he looks just like me," I told her.
"How's Miley?" she asked.
I looked down at Nicky, then back at Selena, "She didn't make it. I guess the delivery was to hard for her and her heart failed."
"What?" Selenas eyes watered.
"I know. I feel bad too," I told her.
The days passed and it was time for Miley's funeral. Many showed up, many cried, some just stood there quietly. Selena held Nicole while I carried Christopher. We gave our condolences to her family, then we said our goodbyes. Selena and I put Chris and Nicky in their car seats and headed home. It was a quiet ride, only from time to time did Nicky say something. I knew she was too young to understand where the new baby came from, but hopefully she wouldn't get jealous. Chris was her new baby brother and she would have to get use to sharing the spotlight.
When we arrived home, Selena took Chris in her arms and walked into the Nicky's room. I picked up Nicky and followed. As we walked through our now transformed home, of course we got rid of all the bachelor stuff, Nicky pulled on my hair.
"What's wrong?!" I asked.
She smiled.
I watched Selena sit in the rocking chair, singing softly to Chris.
She looked up, "We're going to have to buy some things."
"I know, some clothes, diapers, and a basinet," I shifted Nicky to my other side.
"Two basinets," Selena smiled.
