Just got back from Nicaragua. It's a beautiful country, and remarkably friendly to Americans (given the number of times our government has taken a dump on them).
But the governmental institutions leave quite a bit to be desired.
Some of you don't seem aware of the current status - An appeals court overturned the conviction on December 17, 2007[1] and Volz was released from prison on December 21, 2007.[2] He left Nicaragua immediately and went into hiding in an unknown location outside Nicaragua over concerns for his physical safety.
As a Nicaraguan the i am this whole thing make me very shameful of how the system is in my own country.. I fell so bad about this guy, and now that he is free i feel better about it. But i don't want people from other country to think that, thats how Nicaraguan are. I can tell you that not everyone is like the stupid judge who didn't bother to see the evidence that this guy was not even in the city where the crime happen.
Sorry Volz family, i am glad your son is back home with his love ones.
wow....this is honestly so distrubing that a clearly innocent manis going to jail .....not one god damn ppiece of evidence that could be linked to him and so ...a dumb ignorant ass judge calls him guilty....
Dude, It's okay....everyone out there who doesn't know. This is a fairly old piece of film of Eric Volz in Nicaragua. He was eventually released from prison in Nicaragua...The US gov. got involved and he was freed shortly after he was convicted; he did spend some 81 days I believe in the Nicaragua Prison though. But, this is an excellent eye opener to folks going over there to visit for any length of time...think about it.
