The first violin is rather harsh and too loud. The cello should be brought forward a little more.

Dvorak music is simply sentimental and extraordinary rich in pretty melodies, in this quartet he shows a good part of his Czech soul, mixed with some melodies from the country where he was staying when he composed this chamber work, USA

Thanks to strathconastring4 for adding the 3rd movement to YouTube's repetoire; the work can now be heard in its entirety, albeit piecemeal. The American Quartet is an amazingly compact, but eloquent composition.
