Jont (singer/songwriter) is on tour, travelling across the USA playing 'UNLIT' houseparty-gigs at myspace users' houses who he has never met before.

This episode, Jont and Dave arrive in Richmond, Virginia where they meet Rukkus who is hosting an UNLIT in his local bar/home - Bar Ipanema. After chatting with the unimitable Eric and friends, Jont goes for a 'progressive haircut'. That night at UNLIT, Jont celebrates his 33rd birthday with musicians Nathan Joyce, Dave Rohrer, A to B and recording artist Matt Seymour who is leaving Richmond the following day for a 'musical adventure'. This is... The State We're In.

  • I know a gal in this clip. =)

  • Cool, yeah I ate there once but usually just ride my bike to shows in Richmond a couple times a week. Every once in a while there's a show at Harrison Street Coffee Shop, and it's always great stuff, but the coffee and food is amazing either way.

  • Yes I've heard of the Camel. Nifty place.

My favorite place to hear music is actually a place out in Harrisonburg called The Little Grill Collective. I highly recommend it.

  • Well you don't have to get a drink when you go to a bar. I've been going to bars and clubs for years without drinking a single drink.

If you like this video though you'd probably like The Camel. But they do sell beers there, however they sell beers at convenience stores and grocery stores too so you probably don't go very many places.

  • Haha, ok, why make a point of saying you've never heard of this bar then? Anyhow, I've been going to Ipanema for the food and atmosphere for years. I hadn't had a drink at Ipanema until last weekend when I got a beer at the bar and talked to a friend. (By the way I was raised baptist and didn't drink until I turned 30 because of how I was raised. I feel so free now to just let all that baptist guilt just go go go.)

  • but if there are any alcohol free places to hear great live music let me know.

  • I don't drink. I'm a Baptist.

  • Love the video! Great job capturing some of Richmond's fun personalities. Yay!

  • How in the world could you not have heard of Ipanema? 900 block of W Grace, amazign vegetarian food, great artwork, great atmosphere, etc... great place.

  • Im from Richmond and I never heard of that bar. But I don't do bars.
