  • do you have a computer file of the table you made up fret locations?

  • If you do a google search for "fretboard calculator" you'll find lots of online versions. The beauty is they work for differing scale lengths.

  • man, thanks for your vids!

please, where can i find that table you mentioned at 2:44 ?

  • thanks. Do a google search on "fret calculator" and you'll find a link to the Stewart McDonald fret calculator. There are lots of these out there. Have fun.

  • you laugh like the doctor in the simpsons. cracks me up.

  • I'm not sure if that's better than the person who said I sound like Fozzy Bear from the Muppets, but thanks. ;-)

  • where is your hair man.

  • Well, it looks cool either way. If you had done it the other way round, like starting the building process with the shortcut and leting the hair grow along with the guitar it would really have kind of a philosphic touch. But never mind ;-)

By the way, the vids are the best I've seen on youtube. I always thought, that it would be so cool to build my own guitar. You put the goal in a reachable area. I'm still pretty scared, but if I build one, it'll be just because of your effort. Thanks.

  • Hi Steve just found you on the net, i've just started and think you are a brill teacher

  • Have you ever considered making a jig for cutting for your fret wire on the fretboard? I have made one where the fretboard sits a C-Shaped jig with sides reaching higher then the top of the fretboard with cuts down through where the frets should be located so you can slide the saw down through to make the cuts in the fretboard. I personally dont trust using the table saw for this

  • um, maybe a dumb question but why would you measure out fret slots to 1/64 " when the distances are based on the 12th root of 2 or a ratio from fret 0 toward the bridge of .94387431268...? Why on earth would you not use a standard fret slot template to mark your fret slots so they were actually perfectly spaced per the 12th root of 2? Just seems wrong to forego accuracy beyond 1/64". Your intonation can't be correct doing it that way, can it?

  • how thick is your table saw blade?

  • "Lasts longer than I will"

    Thats what she said LOL!

  • where did your hair go man, did it get caught in the saw?

  • hey steve's thanks man, question:what kind of ebony you buy? because I went to my lumber store and they have many especies. Thanks for your videos man!!!

  • ha haa you had a haircut !!!

  • Thanks for doing these videos, they are great. Where did you purchase that blade for the table saw if you don't mind me asking?
