So the name Golf is Dutch for Clubs. Golf was developed in Holland in February 1297 in a city called Loenen ann de Vecht where the Dutch played the game with clubs and leather balls. The winner was whoever hit the ball with the least number of strokes into a Golf hole several hundred yards away. At this time they played 4 holes each round.
