Are you near shore to do this????

That spot is amazing! I grew up in Islamorada and have only seen a spot like that twice in my life and both times I was real young. I hope you guard the numbers well. We moved to Marathon from Islamorada 3 years ago and still search every season for a good spot that we can visit when we have company down. Good on ya for having a sweet honey hole! :) And I’m always happy to hear that there are others out there who care enough about the population to count and measure. Thanks!

Enter THE MIAMI SPINY LOBSTER TOURNAMENT mini season 2011 ... $2000. cash & prizes ... It's not how many it's how BIG ... You could be the spiny lobster king for 2011. Do you have what it takes????

These guys could have measured the lobsters once they got to the boat, so freaking chill to the people getting all bent out of shape about the measuring of the lobsters! Eveybody wants to be the lobster heroes.

@diver787 Hey i was wondering was that the ocean or gulf side? also that must of been your best hole of the season cause i havent seen one single hole that packed for about 15 years in marathon!! haha thanks for the vids btw

Yup, no measuring, that's what we'll notice when we're down in the keys this summer when we see the carapace shells laying beside the holes, the lobsters were shorts, they didn't care & wrung them anyway. Ridiculous.

@eadsj2 There isn't a single continuous shot showing them catching a lobster and then bagging it without measuring. Every single time they catch them there is a cutaway and then the lobster goes into the bag. There is no evidence of them catching and then bagging without measuring whatsoever.

I see at 0:47 your buddy has a dive knife. Do you know what kind he was using, and do you have any personal preferences yourself?

Most of us dive with Riffe knives, which that one is. But as far as a recommendation, I like pointed knives, forget the blunt ones, and try to find one that has a case without cheap plastic latches. Besides that, all of the blades are pretty much the same. There are also neopreme straps that you can get to fit around your leg.

How many were keepers and how many were shorts? It's people like you, who don't measure that keep the lobster numbers down. Follow the rules.

We follow the rules, 3" carapace 6/person... so don't tell me about the rules!!!. And next time you accuse someone of breaking the law make sure you can back it up because there is no reason to post comments that have no truth!

@diver787 There's video you took for proof. Not once did you measure any of those lobster. I thought the same thing before I even read the comments. I see you know the rules, you just didn't follow them.

@jbm39 We measure all of your lobster in the water before they go into the sack and then again on the boat before we put them in the box. I dont know if you have ever noticed but not all of the gauges are 3" exactly so we measure them with two different ones to make sure. Also, I have been doing this for over 15 years and when you grab a lobster you can tell if its legal or not. Plus, I dont care if people measure them or not as long as they are legal!
