Wow, the graphics are still good looking for such an old game, though it's laggy.

No Soundblaster SFX speech, Roland MT-32 was only for good instrumental version.

"Please note that a patch is required for first generation MT-32s that fixes a lock-up when system exclusive messages are sent to the module as the game starts."
And where can i find this? Because i have a first generation mt-32, but ive never tried x-wing yet. Maybe the time has come ;]

The music is great, but the sound-effect samples in this are weird? Also, no speech?
Does anybody know if you can combine Roland Music with Soundblaster SFX?

Where can I get a larger 8 / 16 / 32MB DLS sample set from?
I've scoured the internet looking for an improved General MIDI set but resorted to buying a Soundblaster Fatality because the Soundfont community at least has a large range to experiment with.
what do you think of xg compared to the rest?

Being an owner of a Yamaha MU10 (the external module version of the DB50XG), I have to say that XG is rather poor when it comes to General MIDI as it simply sounds too "funked up" compared to Roland's Sound Canvas series.
However, XG had it's own scene which was full of electronic music that really shined what it could really do (JRG - Alchemic Experiments #1 - Breaking Waves in my videos is a perfect example of what XG can do).
